Meet Sabina - a voice for integrity, insight, and sound decision-making
Sabina Araya is a longtime Lake Stevens resident, a mother of two, and a dedicated public servant with nearly 20 years of experience in local government. Her journey—from immigrant teen to assistant transit director to candidate for City Council—has been guided by one principle: make everything better. Whether it’s a system, a neighborhood, or a conversation, Sabina brings heart, strategy, and action.
Her professional career includes serving as Assistant Transit Director for the City of Everett and previously as Long Range Planning Manager at Community Transit. With nearly two decades in transportation, operations, planning, IT systems, and government leadership, she has built a reputation for solving complex problems and leading teams that deliver real results.
Sabina holds an MBA from Columbia College and a BA in International Studies and English from the University of Washington. She is also a graduate of Leadership Snohomish County’s Signature Class. A member of Westgate Chapel in Edmonds, she draws strength and purpose from her faith and community.
She is also active as a public policy advocate for worker rights and transparent governance, carrying her commitment to accountability beyond her professional role. Known for balancing data-driven insight with a deep sense of humanity, Sabina values transparency, accountability, and service above politics.
Now, she’s running for Lake Stevens City Council Position #1 to restore public trust and bring principled leadership to the table. At a time when residents feel unheard and decisions happen behind closed doors, Sabina believes the community deserves clear communication, responsive leadership, and bold yet thoughtful action.
Her campaign is rooted in simple but powerful values: lead with truth, govern with care, and always put people first. Whether she’s drafting policy, mentoring a team, or watching the sun set over Mt. Baker and the lake, Sabina’s purpose remains the same—to serve with integrity and build a city where trust and community thrive.
